Halloween October 2011

Yes I know...Halloween is over, Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas is in two weeks and why am I just now writing about her costume?? Because I am just behind on the blogs...and always will be..sorry. You might get to read about our Christmas around Mother's day 2012...maybe...

It seems like we did a LOT of Halloween stuff this October...more so then Christmas stuff so far this December. As you can see Addie was a pirate for Halloween..her own choosing! I asked her months before Halloween what she wanted to be and she immediately knew a pirate with a patch and a parrot. Very specific requests...luckily Party City had everything in one convenient place! Even a heart shaped eye patch for a girl pirate...they have thought of everything!

Addie is saying "Argh" just like a pirate in the picture above! Ha!

Addie and I went to the downtown Halloween festival our town throws every year. The pirate on her shoulder kept falling off so we decided to have one painted on her cheek instead...MUCH easier to keep up with!

Addie is a little competitive...just like her mother. She walked past the people playing the game above and stood and watched for the longest time. She looked at me and said "I can win this....lets do it". So funny...she was on a mission to blow her balloon up the fastest....and she succeeded with a huge grin. Below Addie is claiming her prize (everybody got a prize of course)and the girl next to her is still struggling to get her balloon to pop...poor thing.

After the downtown festival I took Addie trick or treating for the first time. We have always gone to the festival before and never gone house to house. She got the hang of it VERY quickly. She would walk up to the house and they would give her a piece of candy...she would then say "Can I have a piece for my mom too?" and of course they would give her another piece. Then I would say "Aw...that was sweet..did you get a piece for me too?" and Addie would simply say "No". Smart kid.

You have to think though..trick or treating really does go against EVERYTHING we have taught our children ....don't talk to strangers...and never take candy from strangers....but it is ok this one day of the year. No wonder kids are confused....

Me, Addie, Cole and Kat Kat did our yearly trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Of course after I got home I found this really cute dress I bought for Addie last year that said "Pumpkin Patch" on it and of course it will be too small next year....I guess I should learn a lesson from that and not buy clothes a year in advance....

Face Painting is always part of the ritual!

Hard to believe that the two kids above are the same as the two kids below! The picture below was Cole's first Pumpkin Patch visit in October 2008!

Hopefully one of these days, most likely VERY far in the future, Addie and I will have our own little plot of land to roam around on....That would be nice! Addie looks right at home on this tractor with her cowgirl boots!

I don't really remember when we started it but sometime in the past we started painting our pumpkins when we got home from the patch. We knew we couldn't carve it yet because Halloween was almost three weeks away so this made it look pretty in the meantime! These are Addie's painting clothes....in other words...they are too small..her little belly kept hanging out of her shirt and when she stood up you would have thought a flood was coming.....

Addie was able to wear her favorite costume a couple times this Halloween ...Super Girl (although she wears it all year long anyway)

A Halloween Party at Cole's House!

I had to put my nephew Jackson in Addie's old Dumbo costume...As you can see he LOVED it!

Addie got to wear her Super Girl costume one more time to school for their Halloween Party, or "Fall Festival" they call it to be PC. She is pretending to fly in the picture above!

Well..October was wonderful. Now I need to Blog about our Disney trip! Hopefully I'll get that done sooner rather than later!

October's Firsts!

Yes I know.....we were WAY overdue for Addie's first dentist appointment....but better late than never right? Luckily she was cavity free (just like her mom still is today....honest...never had a cavity..knocking on wood right now). She did GREAT. I am actually glad I waited until she was a little older. I don't know how she would have done with an X-Ray machine as a 2 or 3 year old. At least now that she is 4 I was able to explain to her what she was about to do and she really understood what was going on.

Do you remember that game "light as a feather..stiff as a board"..Addie would be a pro at that game!

We have a trip to Disney World coming up (so excited!) and I was curious to see how Addie would do with the rides, roller coasters, etc, so I took Addie to Six Flags for the day. This was a first for her and we both had a BLAST! Addie also rode her first roller coaster and LOVED it..yay..just like her momma and her Granddad! Neither of us like the really bumpy old wooden roller coasters but the ones that are steel and smooth we loved.

Above we are waiting for the Monster Plantation ride...one that I loved when I was younger, and still do today.

Addie is fearless...just like I used to be. I am starting to know how my mom used to feel all those times I would come home and say something like "Hey mom..I went skydiving today and it was AWESOME...you want to see the pictures??!!"

Unstinked!

Addie: "Momma, I know what unstinked means"

Momma: "Unstinked....really....what does that mean?"

Addie: "It means you die and are not around anymore"

Momma: "Oh..where did you learn that?"

Addie: "At school when we were reading a book about dinosaurs".

Momma: "Oh...you mean extinct"
Addie: "No Momma...I said unstinked...not that word you were saying"

Addie continuously teaches me new things and constantly reminds me that I do not know what I am talking about and she is always right.....I wonder where she gets this strong will from???? I know this story may only be funny to me but I thought it was hilarious. She was SOO serious when she was telling me about "unstinked" and she just KNEW I was wrong.

Anyway..Addie and I have been having a lot of fun the last month. We finally got to meet our nephew and cousin "Little Jackson". Addie is such a proud cousin and had a blast with Jackson.

Addie, Jackson and YaYa

Me, Addie and Jackson

It looks like Addie is holding a baby doll.....Jackson is so tiny

No...Addie is not going to be tall at all....Look at her legs in the picture above.....Holy Moly

The other morning Addie woke up about 5:30am. She knows not to go downstairs without me because
1. The alarm sensors see you the second your foot hits the hallway and the house alarm goes off and 2. Why go downstairs when there is so much mischief to be had in your room....Her face above says to me "What...I didn't do anything wrong". Needless to say when I finally rolled out of bed around 6am this is what I found.....Too Funny!

Why read books when I can throw them on the floor and sit on them.....or use the book shelf for a bed....

Another exciting thing Addie did this past month was play her first games of soccer. She LOVED it. You can see her team above. I am not sure they actually accomplished anything this season but I know Addie had fun...and that is all that matters.

You might not be able to see it in the picture above but if you look closely on the children's faces ....almost every single one of them has a HUGE grin. They are loving this red light green light game.

Thank goodness Addie was on the "shirts" team…..not "skins"....that would have been really embarrassing!

Addie got a medal the end of the season! She was very proud of herself and we were too!

Me and Addie!

Addie's dad, Sara and Sadie! This was the best picture out of about 5. It is really hard to get 4 people to say cheese at the same time!

It also seems that October was the month for birthdays. I think Addie went to three parties in October. The above was a gymnastics party for Addie A. This place was soo cool. After the kids jumped around in the foam pit, the rope swing, trampoline, etc..etc…etc. they all got a medal and were able to stand in the “GOLD Medal” spot! As you can see Addie was really shy about it……

The picture above was at her friend Caitlyn's party! They ALWAYS get in trouble together at school but love hanging out together. They truly have a love/frustration relationship! Addie always tells me that Caitlyn is her best friend in the morning….but not in the afternoons. I guess adult life is like that sometimes too……just not quite as simple…and of course we don’t usually get over it as quick as 4 year olds get over it. I wonder at what age children, like adults, start to hold grudges? Hopefully not anytime soon because discipline is such a major part of parenting that if grudges come into play anytime soon…my child might not ever like me again. Ha!
