Summer Reading Program!

Is it bad when the first thing your child says in the morning when she gets out of bed is "Mom..I am not going to bite ANYBODY today and I'm not going to show anyone my boobies".
Hmm....if she is not going to do it today...does that mean she has been doing this before? Too funny...we had to have a discussion, on a 3 year old level, about who should see our bodies and who should not see our bodies. Needless to say it gave me a vision of me having the birds and the bees talk with Addie in the future. It was difficult to have with a straight face!

On a different note Addie and I participated in the Summer Reading Program at our library. The program was called "Splash Into Summer". We only had to read 20 books (me reading them to Addie) before we hit our goal! Once we hit the program's goal Addie got to write her name on a fish and put it on a board in the library. She wrote the "A" all by herself! She thought this was really cool to have her name up in the library. It is part of our library ritual now to go and find her fish, which never moves from the 1st place we put it! She is going to be really sad when the library changes this bulletin board!

Addie also got a free kid's meal from Chick Fil A! Thanks Chik Fil A!

On a funny note...Addie and I had a blast pretending her body had disappeared in the bath the other night!

Of course we had to pretend Dora lost her body too...

Blueberry picking!

Sadly enough..I wasn't quite sure what a blueberry bush actually looked like until we went to this farm! I asked the man who was helping us "So..where do we go to pick the blueberries?" and he said "Oh..they are everywhere". I had to ask him to physically show me a blueberry bush. Of course I was standing right next to one!
Berry Patch Farms does do not use any pesticides or chemicals on the blueberries so you can eat them straight off the bush! They were sooo much better than the blueberries you get in the grocery store!

Addie ate her weight in blueberries! As you can see....she loved them!

We had to stop for some dandelion wishes along the way!

Addie quickly learned that the green berries needed to stay on the tree a little longer! They were not that tasty yet.
I could not believe how inexpensive blueberries were when you pick them yourself! It was $2.50 for a pound and a half of blueberries!

We then headed home for some blueberry and vanilla ice cream! Mmm!

Addie actually looks a little blue in this picture....Ha!

Tanglewood Farms

Addie and I ventured out to Tanglewood Farms and even though it was 100 degrees outside..we still had a blast! Anytime it is this hot outside it is an excuse for Addie to have numerous juice boxes..which she loves. Tanglewood Farms is basically a large petting zoo and all the animals are miniature. They had baby goats and pigs that were so cute. The woman that owns the farm loved baby animals and all of these were her pets until about 10 years ago when she decided to open her farm to the public. I love how the goat looks like she is smiling in this picture above! You can see her cute baby behind her.
The sheep is admiring "Ariel" on Addie's shirt!

OK...WHAT IS THIS? I never found out...they were so funny looking but really sweet!

Addie decided she needed to get down on their level and have a little chat. Of course my camera battery died and so this is where the pictures end. The coolest thing we saw was a chicken laying eggs. I have never seen anything like that. Literally a chicken was just sitting in the chicken coop and when she got up..there were a TON of eggs underneath. Addie was fascinated and of course had a ton of questions about where the eggs came from, etc! Too funny. We loved the pony ride at the end too.

Beauty and the Beach!

Who says you can't wear your jewelry on the beach?

We had a fabulous week at the beach! We headed to Wild Dunes the Saturday before July 4th and headed home July 8th! Addie liked the beach but LOVED the pool. She loved it so much that the rough bottom of the pool rubbed her little toes raw. Poor thing. She had to wear her beach shoes in the pool the last day.
What did we ever do without noodles??!!
She loved jumping in the deep end...and finally got brave enough to do it all by herself!
She is the worlds best belly flopper!

Addie loves to make waves in the bathtub so I knew she would love the waves at the beach! Absolutely fearless...which is a little scary for me. I felt like I had to have my hand on her at all times.

Aunt Winnie brought Addie the cutest souvenir from her recent trip to Disneyland in CA! These mouse ears have really come a long way since my younger days! I love it.

Granddad and Addie braving the ocean!

I threw this picture in here to show that Addie does have more than one bathing suit. It seems every picture is of Addie in her Ariel bathing suit! She LOVED that Ariel bathing suit and wanted to wear it every time we went outside.

Once again...the Ariel bathing suit!

Addie was officially introduced to Silly Bandz!

We also found out...that they DO break....and they cannot be taped back together once one breaks. Even though she had 40+ of them......she was devastated when her "star wand" broke! So funny how kids get soo attached to something so quickly.

Some of our Charleston and Charlotte friends came to visit for the 4th! Unfortunately my camera must have been out of commission most of that day because I only caputured one picture of my friends! Aunt Winnie's "Baby" seems happy with Amos!

Even though my little girl is growing up (way too fast) I was still able to enjoy holding her for a nap on the beach! Once again the trip went by way too fast. Thank goodness for vacation..It keeps us all sane!
